This page covers what happens when you visit this website. It is written to be read rather than to be defensible, so if something here is unclear please ask us.
Who we are
This site is operated by Spencer Technologies UK Ltd, registered in England & Wales, company number 09156478, at Unit J, Europa Link, Sheffield S9 1XU. We are the data controller for the information described here. Email sales@spencertechglobal.com or call 0333 344 9911.
Measuring how the site is used
We use Amazon CloudWatch RUM, a service of Amazon Web Services, to understand how many people visit, which parts of the page they read and whether anything is broken. We have configured it without cookies, so it does not set anything on your device and does not follow you between visits or between websites. It cannot tell us who you are, and it cannot count you as a returning visitor.
What it records for each visit: the pages viewed, the website or search engine that referred you (the domain name only, never the full address), any campaign tag in the link you followed, your browser and operating system, your device type, approximate page loading speed, and any JavaScript errors the page produced. It also records a small number of actions so we can tell whether the site is doing its job: clicking a phone number, submitting the enquiry form, the form succeeding or failing, and how far down the homepage you scrolled.
Your IP address is used in transit to deliver the request and to derive an approximate country. We do not use this data to identify individuals and we do not combine it with anything else. Amazon Web Services processes it on our behalf under a data processing agreement. Records are held for 30 days in the monitoring service itself, and a copy is kept in our AWS log storage for longer so we can compare one month with another.
LinkedIn advertising
If you accept cookies, we load the LinkedIn Insight Tag. This does two things: it tells us how many people who saw or clicked one of our LinkedIn ads went on to contact us, and it lets us show our ads to people who have visited this site. LinkedIn sets its own cookies to do this and acts as an independent controller for what it collects. It is switched off entirely unless you accept, and nothing loads from LinkedIn before then.
You can also control LinkedIn advertising in your LinkedIn advertising settings, whether or not you have an account with us.

Remembers whether you accepted or rejected, so we stop asking. | Always, once you answer. Strictly necessary, so it needs no consent. |

Advertising measurement and retargeting, set by LinkedIn. | Only after you accept. Typically expire within 6–12 months. |
We set no analytics cookies at all, because the measurement described above does not use them.
Changing your mind
You can withdraw or change your choice at any time, and it is no harder than giving it. The button below forgets your answer and asks again; you can also clear cookies for this site in your browser.
The enquiry form
What you type into the enquiry form — your name, email address, company and message — is sent to us by email so we can reply. It goes to support@spencertechglobal.com through Amazon Simple Email Service and is held in our mailbox and CRM for as long as we are in contact with you and for six years afterwards, which is how long we keep records of business dealings. We do not sell it, and we do not add you to a marketing list on the strength of an enquiry.
Your rights
You have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to how we use it, and to have it sent to you or another provider. Email sales@spencertechglobal.com and we will respond within one month. If we get it wrong you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Our lawful basis for the site measurement is legitimate interests — understanding whether our own website works — and for the LinkedIn tag it is your consent.
